Moving Tips | from your #1 Local Phoenix Arizona Movers:

Moving has always been a stressful time for both residential & commercial type of moves.  We at Always There Moving believe in a stress free move for our customers.  Below are some helpful tips that will ease the pressures of moving.  We are your Phoenix Moving Company.

  1. All furniture items should be empty of all contents.  This enables the piece to moved with no worry of damaging contents or any added weight effecting the moving of the item.  This is even more important for items going up and down stairs, or if a 90 degree tilt is necessary to get it out of a doorway.

  1. Anything that can fit and be put into a box, should be, and the box needs to be able to close.  This allows the fastest possible loading of your possessions.  Obviously not everything will go into a box.  Just keep things not in a box to as minimal as possible.

  1. Pictures, paintings, glass tops or shelves, artwork, sculpture, potted plants, nick nacks etc. should be taken or boxed up by the customer. If possible put them back in the original packing, i.e. how it was delivered or purchased.   Some items will not be possible for the customer to move or box.  If none of these are possible we can take the above items.

  1. Pathways should be cleared as well as possible.  Boxes should be stacked out of the way from hallways or door openings.

  1. Keep pets either away from the house that day, or in a room that doesn’t need to be accessed.  They are huge tripping hazards for movers.

  1. If possible, have a babysitter or a family member at another residence watch your children under the age of 12.  There are many potential hazards that can occur on moving day for small children.

  1. If you’re worried about your carpet or flooring, provide a slippery free cover for the movers to walk on.  We would suggest cleaning the carpets after the move in.  They will not be able to remove their shoes for your move.  This is for their safety and the safety of your furniture.  They also will not be able to wear plastic boot covers.  They are not safe for the movers or your possessions.

  1. Don’t pre-tape your drawers or cabinet doors.  We use stretch wrap for this, and sometimes we stretch wrap a furniture blanket to the piece, so you will not of actually saved any time.

  1. Refrigerators, washer, and dryers should be disconnected before the movers arrive.  This prevents water from getting in the truck and on your other possessions, as well as being a huge time savior for yourself.

  1. Waterbeds should be completely drained before the movers arrive; this process can take hours.

  1. Please have all vehicles out of the garage and carports areas before the movers arrive.

  1. Try to schedule utility companies and deliveries for your new dwelling on another day other than your moving day.  This will prevent us from getting in their way, and vice versa.

Some Reminders for our Customers:

Let DMV know about any address change as soon as possible.

Make sure you call your utility companies and all other services are switched or turned off.  You should turn on utilities before you move in if possible, that way you can have power, telephone service and water available on move in day.

Change all your credit card and all your billing address’s.  This can be an important step in countering identity theft.

Make sure you fill out a change of address or stop mail service at your post office , even if you changed all your address with every company you deal with, this insures that mail sent before you could make the changes or any sent by mistake gets to the correct address.

Don’t forget your home owners’ policy needs to be changed as well, and any other insurances you may have. (Renter’s insurance, etc..)
